The Cat is here to stay.
As noted above, Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat is signed on with the Blackhawks through the 2022-2023 season. DeBrincat, who has scored 69 goals the past two seasons, earns a significant pay upgrade for one of the league’s top goal scorer.
This is a great deal for the Blackhawks. If they were to wait until next offseason to talk extension, DeBrincat’s demands would put the Blackhawks in a tight cap crunch. This deal offers flexibility for the Blackhawks and DeBrincat a chance to cash in when the deal is done.
DeBrincat is up there among the best in the league in hitting the back of the net. As long as he keeps on his current pace, this extension will quickly become one of the best bargains in the NHL.
