The NBA has removed Omer Asik off the Bulls payroll Wednesday afternoon after ruling he has a career ending injury and thus voiding his contract. The Bulls will be granted an additional $3 million in cap space, putting there cap space right below $23M, $22,928,953 to be exact. If the Bulls chose to waive and stretch Cristiano Felicio’s contract, they can create over $27 million in cap space.
NBA free agency kicks off on Sunday, June 30th at 6 p.m. ET. The Bulls will be in the market for big-men depth as well as a veteran point guard. Marcus Morris, Julius Randle, Taj Gibson, Corey Joseph and Patrick Beverley have all been linked to the Bulls in recent weeks. Bucks forward Malcolm Brogdon is also reportedly on the Bulls radar and according to Brain Windhorst on ESPN Zach Lowe’s podcast, he believes the Bulls are lining up an offer sheet for the former Rookie of the Year.
