Cole Hamels sets a career high Tuesday night at Wrigley

By Thomas Gibbons

After striking out Jose Rondon in the fourth inning, Cole Hamels set a career high going 27 innings pitched without an earned run. He is at 20 straight scoreless innings in a row, a current MLB best.

In addition, Hamels reached 2,500 career strikeouts in the third inning. He is the 38th pitcher in MLB history to reach that milestone and currently ranks 10th among all time left handed pitchers on that list.
