It was always a possibility that Zach LaVine and his camp would sign an offer sheet with a different team if talks with the Bulls stalled. That scenario just became reality as Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reported Friday night that Zach LaVine has agreed to a 4-year, $80 million dollar offer sheet from the Sacramento Kings.
While this number is higher than the Bulls wanted, it is still a very reasonable deal. The Bulls are in a great place right now with their cap. LaVine showed sparks last season, particularly against his former team at the United Center on national television. The Bulls made him the face of the franchise with all the focus around his return and LaVine wants to be the guy. $20 million annually may not be LaVine’s worth in the Bulls or fans eyes, but I fully expect the Bulls to match.
LaVine averaged 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 34.1 percent from three in 24 games last season. The ball is now in the Bulls court as they have two days to match the offer sheet.
