Patrick Kane and the Team USA will advance to the semi-final round of the 2018 IIHF World Championships, downing Team Czech Republic 3-2
Kane opened the scoring for the Americans 10:36 into the first. Cam Atkinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets made it 2-0 a minute and 43 seconds later.
The second period saw the Czechs tieing the game, courtesy of Michal Repik and Martin Necas. Kane broke the stalemate 6:58 into the third, completely undressing Detroit Red Wings defensive prospect Filip Hronek before burying it pass Czech goalie Pavel Francouz.
With his two goals, Kane now leads the entire tournament with 19 points, breaking his tie with Team Sweden and Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho. His eight goals has him currently second only to Aho, who has nine so far. His 11 assists also leads the tournament, sharing it with Team Canada and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.
Team USA will face the winner of Team Sweden and Team Finland on Saturday.
