Blackhawks, Gilbert agree to terms

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defensive prospect Dennis Gilbert today.  The contract will run up to the 2020-2021 season. He will forego his senior year at the University of Notre Dame.

Gilbert is a third round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2015 NHL Draft. He is a left shot, shutdown defenseman.  In three seasons with the Fighting Irish, Gilbert has put up six goals and forty two assists.  They are fresh from a National Championship title appearance last weekend, ultimately losing to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Before he became a defenseman for Notre Dame, Gilbert played a season for the Chicago Steel, putting up four goals and twenty three assists in 59 games.

Gilbert will immediately report to the Rockford Ice Hogs.
