The Chicago Blackhawks fall to the Dallas Stars for the second time in two games. This time, the game went all the way to the shootout.
Alexander Radulov opened the scoring for the home team, burying a wrist shot past Blackhawks goalie Anton Forsberg on the powerplay. Cody Franson answers for the visitors three minutes later, tallying his first goal wearing the Indian Head. The Stars regained the lead 12:15 in the second, courtesy of Radek Faksa. The Hawks gained the equalizer yet again in the dying minutes of the second frame, when Brandon Saad tipped in a wrister from Connor Murphy from the hashmarks.
Both teams traded chances in the third frame and the ensuing five minute 3 on 3 overtime. Radulov and Tyler Seguin both scored in the shootout, while Ben Bishop stoned both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, securing the extra point for the Stars for the second time in as many games.
The Blackhawks fall to 12-9-5 in the season. Their 29 points is good for fifth in the Central Division. They are currently 2-5-2 against the Central, and are one point out of a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Blackhawks will have a quick turnaround, as Pacific Division leaders the Los Angeles Kings are waiting for them in Chicago, ending a five game, seven day stretch where the Hawks have gone 1-1-2, earning only four out of a possible eight points.
