I don’t think any Bulls fans are surprised by last nights outcome.
The Bulls played like a bad team and that’s because they are a bad team this year, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. As Bulls fans, we need to expect and prepare ourselves for a lot of these types of games this year as we are in a rebuild. Of course getting some wins will be fun and I hope we do win, but with how young this roster is and no super star (yet), it’s going to be very hard to do so.
Last night in the Bulls first loss we did see some promising signs from the young players who will have some major roles this year and be key parts to this teams future. For example, Lauri Markkanen. This kid is going to be a very special player in the league, easily the most talented player on the roster outside of Zach Lavine when he returns, had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and was 2-6 from the 3 point line… in his debut. That’s pretty crazy coming from a 7’0″ stretch big with not really any other talent to take away pressure from him.
Justin Holiday continues his very solid and encouraging play from the preseason, racking up 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. I’m excited to see how Justin Holidays plays all year and develops on this bulls team.
The Bulls played a pretty solid game against a solid Raptors team, but we don’t have any of the real game changers yet. But that’s OK because we have finally entered the long awaited rebuild. This team has a promising, young, driven foundation. Now we just need to go out and get the core pieces to this team.
The Bulls home opener is Saturday vs. San Antonio. SEE RED!!
