Ian Happ to make Cubs debut

Ian Happ, the Cubs No.2 prospect, will make his MLB debut this afternoon in St. Louis. Happ will bat 2nd and play in RF

Happ, 22, is hitting .298 with an OPS of .977 in Triple-A Iowa this season. And to go along with that, Happ has hit 9 HRs and 25RBIs.

The Cubs are battling some injuries, giving Happ his shot. Jason Heyward (finger) is on the DL, Addison Russell (shoulder), Kris Bryant ( ill), and Jon Jay and Ben Zobrist are dealing with back issues. The Cubs lineup today will have three guys who were all in the minors just a few days ago, Happ, Tommy LaStella, and Jeimer Candelario.

Jon Lester is on the mound today vs. Carlos Martinez as Cubs and Cardinals battle in game 2 of this 3 game set. First pitch at 3:05 pm CT.
